In the sparkling city of Sanitaria, everything is clean and sparkles-except for Gus. While other kids play with spotless toys and wear crisp, clean clothes, Gus enjoys rolling in the grass, splashing through mud puddles, and digging in the dirt. Gus believes a little dirt never hurt. Gus unknowingly awakens the Sludge King -a slimy creature made of grime, grease, and garbage. The Sludge King is thrilled to see someone as filthy as himself.
One night, the Sludge King and the Mess Monsters drag Gus down into Sludgmoldia-a dripping, slimy world where everything oozes, smells, and creeps. Desperate to escape, Gus promises to change his ways. When he finally returns home, he rushes to scrub clean every inch of his room. From that day forward, Gus decided never to let dirt or slime rule him again.
